Voice input
Voice input is currently behind a staged rollout flag and is not available in stable builds yet.
Voice input turns a short recording into editable text in the main chat composer. It never sends the prompt automatically.
Dictate a prompt
Section titled “Dictate a prompt”- Sign in to your Kodik account.
- Click the microphone immediately to the left of the Send button.
- On first use, review the cloud-processing disclosure and allow microphone access.
- Speak normally. Partial text appears in the composer while you talk.
- Click the microphone again to Stop. Kodik waits for the final transcript and keeps it in the composer.
- Review or edit the text, then send it yourself.
Voice input is available only in the primary chat composer. It is not added to message-edit, editor, terminal, or inline-chat inputs.
Stop and Cancel
Section titled “Stop and Cancel”- Stop ends recording, waits for the final words, and keeps the transcript.
- Escape cancels the active recording and restores the exact text, selection, mentions, and attachments that were present before recording.
- If the microphone or transcription service fails after a committed segment, Kodik keeps that committed text and discards an unfinished partial segment.
Starting voice input in a second chat cancels the first recording. Closing the chat or signing out also stops capture immediately.
Cloud processing and privacy
Section titled “Cloud processing and privacy”Voice input is a cloud feature. Audio is streamed through the authenticated Kodik API and processed by ElevenLabs Scribe v2 Realtime. The ElevenLabs API key stays on the Kodik server.
ElevenLabs retains speech-to-text audio and transcripts by default. Zero Retention Mode is available only for approved Enterprise accounts, so do not assume a deployment uses zero retention unless your administrator confirms it. Cancel stops further audio transmission, but it cannot retract audio already sent for processing.
Kodik does not include audio or transcript text in its application logs or telemetry. It may record content-free reliability measurements such as duration, latency, outcome, language, and transcript length.
See Privacy & security for the broader data handling model.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- If the microphone is unavailable, check the operating-system permission for Kodik and confirm that an input device is connected.
- Voice input requires an authenticated Kodik session and a network connection.
- ElevenLabs restricts access from Russia and certain other territories. Russian-language support does not mean the service is available in every region.
- A quota or rate-limit message means the current account or service limit has been reached; wait for the displayed retry period or contact your administrator.
- A recording ends automatically at the server’s configured maximum duration.
